Advance directive

With a health care proxy, you can grant another person the right to act on your behalf. The power of attorney can relate to the management of certain individual matters or all matters. The Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection provides comprehensive information on this and you can download a health care proxy.

Care decree

Legal guardianship in Germany is a court-ordered procedure in which a guardian is appointed to manage the affairs of a person who is unable to fully look after their own interests due to illness or disability. With a care directive, the carer can be determined in advance.

Patronage order

A living will is a legal document in which a person specifies which medical treatments they would like to receive or refuse in the future if they are no longer able to make decisions or express their wishes themselves.

Emergency checklist

Compass private care counselling had a useful idea. An emergency cheque card, which family carers should keep should keep together with their ID card, can be used to record information. Who is being cared for, who should be informed as quickly as possible in an emergency and where an emergency checklist can be found.

Care diary

A care diary is an aid in which the care needs of a person in need of care can be documented. It contains information about medications, visits to the doctor, physical and mental conditions and special incidents, and is often used to prepare the care assessment.

Dementia guide for relatives

The Centre for Quality in Care offers numerous interesting brochures on the topics of dementia, incontinence and using a rollator. These brochures can be downloaded free of charge from the ZQP website.
